I’ve spent the majority of my life in Prince George’s County and I see that, now more than ever, our county needs community leaders that lead with real change and know how to build real community. To me, community means taking care of each other rather than competing with each other. Real change means action that delivers impact, not intent that comes up empty. Our community needs fresh perspective and creative ideas to address ALL of our issues, especially those of us at a greater disadvantage. We need collaborative leaders who recognize root causes, deliver thoughtful and fair solutions and make us feel like we’re in this together instead figuring out everything on our own.

As your next District 6 Councilmember, there are many issues that I plan to address. I plan to share in more detail over the coming months and via the website but, for now, here are three of my immediate priorities:

  1. Keeping everyone in their homes. As a real estate professional, I have seen firsthand how affordable housing has become a cliche. New homes have been built year after year, and none of them have decreased home prices. We need policies that help people stay in their homes, especially when they’re experiencing hardship. We need to regulate development so that it fulfills community needs instead of making developers rich and raising the cost of housing. We need oversight to stop investors from exploiting the rental market.

  2. Expand food access. Nearly half of our county’s residents are living in a food desert with little to no access to supermarkets to buy fresh groceries. Where you live should not dictate your access to any of your basic human needs, including food. And profit should not be prioritized over people being able to eat. Our county government has the power to incentivize grocery stores to open locations in the areas where we need it the most.

  3. Re-employ our neighbors. We all know someone impacted by the mass layoffs in 2025. Over 300,000 Black women lost their jobs and careers in 2025, and at the same time, our county saw a 65% increase in the unemployment rate. As a community, we can do more to support those who have been affected. We can incentivize employers to hire them. We can help them start new businesses that serve our community. We can create opportunities for them to get back to work or start second careers.

Real community means supporting each other. It requires that we share the power, the resources and the responsibilities. In real communities, we make sure that everyone is good and I want to bring real community back to our county as your next County Councilmember for District 6.
